Σε καλό δρόμο οι διαπραγματεύσεις για την απελευθέρωση του Ντανιέλε. Ανεπιβεβαίωτες πηγές μιλούν για εκτέλεση του οδηγού του. Πηγές των Ταλιμπάν ανακοίνωσαν ότι εκτέλεσαν τον οδηγό του Ντανιέλε Μαστροτζάκομο που είχαν απαγάγει μαζί με έναν ακόμη Αφγανό – μεταφραστή και τον Ιταλό δημοσιογράφο. Ωστόσο, η είδηση δεν επιβεβαιώνεται από καμία έγκυρη πηγή. Σύμφωνα με τις ίδιες πληροφορίες οι Ταλιμπάν είναι έτοιμοι να δώσουν παράταση στο τελεσίγραφο που έληγε σήμερα και που απειλούσε με εκτέλεση του  Ντανιέλε και στη συνέχεια να  τον ελευθερώσουν σε ανταλλαγή με τρεις Αφγανούς κρατούμενους. Ο εκπρόσωπος των Ταλιμπάν Qari Yussuf Ahmadi δήλωσε στο Γαλλικό Πρακτορείο Ειδήσεων, ότι έχει σημειωθεί πρόοδος στις διαπραγματεύσεις για την απελευθέρωση του Ντανιέλε, απαιτώντας –παράλληλα- να γίνει ανταλλαγή με τους  Abdul Latif Hakimi, Ustad Yasir και Mohammed Hanif. Μέχρι σήμερα, στην ιστοσελίδα της «Ρεπούμπλικα» είχαν συγκεντρωθεί περίπου 70.000 υπογραφές συμπαράστασης στον Ντανιέλε Μαστροτζάκομο απ’ όλο τον κόσμο, με το αίτημα της άμεσης απελευθέρωσής του.    Il comandante dei Talebani: «Ci sono stati progressi nei negoziati. Ibrahim Hanifi, Taliban commander in the southern Helmand province, repeated that demand on Friday morning but said more time would be allowed. "We can hold off on the deadline, I don't know for how long," Hanifi said, who was reached on the phone by ANSA in Kabul. The commander said that the group's second request - the withdrawal of over 1,900 Italian troops from Afghanistan - still stood but he indicated that the release of the three Taliban spokesman was the key one.
